Thursday's Lowdown: Fantastique-ness, Friendly Animals, Rebels, Causes

Your Humboldt Thursday is gonna go like this:

The party people at the Environmental Protection Information Center are staging a benefit show at the Arcata Playhouse featuring "surreal bubblegum art pop" purveyors El Radio Fantastique. Take a nibble of the layers of sound they produce in the video below and/or tune in to KHUM 104.3/104.7 at roughly 1 p.m. when they'll do battle with DJ Mike Dronkers.
The Siren's Song Tavern continues to kill it as an off-weekend night live music funnel. Tonight the slanted room will host a pair of earnest bands in the form of local synth-y garage rockers Companion Animal and SF indie rock trio The Desert Line.
If you like feeling community surf on over to the monthly Ocean Night at the Arcata Theatre Lounge where tonight they'll be showing the documentary Rebels With a Cause, about a group of "dreamers and schemers" who fought keep developers McMansion-ing pristine coastlines.
