Lowdown: Sunday Strummed String Selections

Don't give up on the weekend just yet, Humboldt. Sunday has above average offerings to ensure you drag it into Monday.

First up, former .357 String Band member Billy Cook leads a new Americana-y band into the Eureka Inn's Palm Lounge. Check out the tone in the clip above where Billy and bass player Dan Infecto perform their song "Bend." They'll share the bill with Humboldt's it band of the moment, the mighty, mighty Gunsafe.

Even more strings will be strummed over at HumBrews when Colorado band Mountain Standard Time takes the stage for some drumkit-enhanced Rocky Mountain freegrass.

Up in Redwood Park the Ink People and North Coast Repertory Theatre are staging a series of Plays in the Park. Sunday's show is their take on William Shakespeare's As You Like It, but also keep an eye on the Lowdown for Late: A Cowboy Song which switches off with the Shakespeare 'til the end of August. More Sunday options below including more Shrek and Reggae on the River 2013's last gasp.
