Tuesday’s Lowdown: Gunsafe’s Last Show (For Awhile)

Humbug! Surely this is not what Humboldt wanted for Christmas, but local unforgettable punk/country/folk fire starters Gunsafe are taking a little breaksy so that lead singer/songwriter Stella Martinez can move back to her New Mexico home to be closer to family.

Now, you better not pout. To be clear, the band isn’t breaking up per se — they are still planning a tour of non-Humboldt places for the spring to support their latest album (listenable here). Also, there has to be a going away show, si? Si. Thus, Gunsafe will take to one of their favorite stages Tuesday night at the Eureka Inn’s Palm Lounge for a set in which they promise to debut “super, secret, awesome” new music. ’Tis the season of giving.

As part of their extended farewell, the band stopped by KHUM’s Meet Me in the Morning on Sunday. Listen to their chat with DJ Lyndsey Battle as well as a song below.
