Celebrating National Cancer Survivorship Day at the Crab’s Baseball Game!

St. Joseph Health is honoring cancer survivors and their loved ones during the Humboldt Crab’s vs. Rockville Rock Hounds Baseball Game in Arcata on National Cancer Survivorship Day, Sunday, June 4, 2017. Any individual, who has or is currently undergoing cancer treatments, regardless of where they received treatment, are invited to attend. The gates to the ball park open at 11:30 a.m.; the game begins at 12:30 p.m. St. Joseph Health has reserved a VIP picnic area for survivors by the third base. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on. According to Ellen Mahoney, MD, Medical Director of the Cancer Care Program, St. Joseph Health is excited to host this survivorship event for their community. “We wanted to do something special to honor and remember our patients and all of our community members who have shown such strength and courage in the face of cancer,” said Dr. Mahoney. Survivors will be recognized during the game by the announcers and all those attending the game will receive mini baseball-themed stress balls. Survivors can access free tickets by visiting Dr. Mahoney’s office (located at 2504 Harrison Ave, Eureka, CA 95501). The complimentary tickets were made possible by the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation. Tickets are limited and will be given to survivors on a first-come, first-served basis.
