Birding, Geological, and Botanical Tour of the Humboldt County Coastal Lagoons
Join Redwood Region Audubon Society and trip leaders Tom Lisle, Clare Golec, and Gary Friedrichsen on September 29 at 9:00 a.m. for a birding, geological, and botanical tour of the Humboldt County coastal lagoons. Meet near the southern launch ramp off Big Lagoon Park Road and we’ll begin with a brief explanation about the evolution of coastal lagoons. From there, we’ll continue to caravan to Dry, Stone, and Freshwater lagoons while keeping an eye out for waterbirds and shorebirds that inhabit these freshwater systems. Pack warm clothes, a lunch, and water. There will be some walking over uneven terrain but no walks longer than a few hundred yards. Trip happens rain or shine but canceled if winds are too combative. The trip is limited to twenty participants. Please email gary@jacobycreek.net if you want to attend.
