Marisa Kieselhorst and Sierra Martin at the Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is proud to announce two new exhibitions by artists Marisa Kieselhorst and Sierra Martin. Both local to the area, Kieselhorst and Martin’s exhibitions will feature vibrantly colored paintings, on display for the months of January and February, 2016. In the meeting room, Kieselhorst will be exhibiting a suite of 12 paintings which will exhibit one year in the life of her beloved magnolia tree. These delicate watercolors record the subtle changes as the magnolia transforms with the seasons. Kieselhorst adds, “Painting the magnolia this year has given me the time and space to reflect the feelings and spontaneity I appreciate in life, it’s satisfied a restlessness and has quieted my mind. I enjoy devoting my awareness to a deeper trust and flow, which reflects my inner sanctity.“ In the main hall, Martin will be exhibiting his colorful pure abstract paintings. Using simple shapes and planes to break up each image, Martin focuses his energy (and your eyes) on the richness of color and pure form. In Martin’s own words “My work is an attempt to explore a pure aesthetic unencumbered by representation or any overt meaning. The individual works are untitled to avoid placing unnecessary context that might affect the viewer’s judgment of their aesthetic merits. In removing the baggage of meaning, what is left is an unsoiled examination of beauty itself.” The exhibition will be on view through January and February of 2016, with an opening reception taking place January 8th from 6pm to 9pm. Exhibitions are on view during the Sanctuary's open lab hours, during events, and by appointment. Open Lab hours are Wednesday 12-7pm, Friday 11am-4:30pm, and Saturday 9am-2pm.
