Understanding Dementia Behavior

Caregiver Training - Understanding Dementia Behavior: Managing Communication and Behavioral Challenges Wednesday February 3, 2016 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM *Registration begins at 9:00 AM. Facilitated by Alexis Glidewell, LCSW Family Consultant, Redwood Caregiver Resource Center Attendees will learn strategies to: •Facilitate communication with a person with dementia •Identify what works and what doesn’t work in difficult situations •Feel a sense of personal empowerment in their caregiving role Redwood Caregiver Resource Center will provide grants for respite care for family caregivers who need it in order to attend. Requests for respite must be made by February 1, 2016. Location: Alzheimer’s Resource Center Library 1901 B California Street Eureka, CA 95501 Cost: $20.00 per person (scholarships available for family caregivers) Checks made out to Redwood CRC Lunch: Participants have the choice of bringing their lunches to the class or purchasing lunch (pizza) for an additional $5.00, payable the day of the event.
