The Young MediaMakers 2015 Big Screen Showcase

The Young MediaMakers 2015 Big Screen Showcase is juried showcase for young producers age 8 to 22 The Showcase offers two entry divisions Junior age 8 to 13 and Senior age 14 to 22. Every showcase provides an opportunity fo ryoung producers to learn from the experience of professional or filmmaking advocates. This year we invited two special guest to speak to our audience. Camden Barbour, is an independent mediamaker from San Jose and Humboldt County. He will offer an insider glimpse into the worl of independent filmmaking and screen a reel of his producitons. Isabel Bustillos of Ashoka. Isabel will address the Adobe Youth Voices opportunity for young mediamakers. TYMM Big Screen Showcase is a learning opportunity, a time to network and a contest. During the judging for best in genre the local and out of area producers made a competitive showing. The local media students did well. Of the thirty-nine movies and experimental clips entered into The Young MediaMakers 15th Big Screen Showcase, there are fifteen local awards. These awards include Swandlund’s cash gift cards, iconic Humboldt Chocolates and will be announced and granted on Saturday, May 2 at the Arcata Playhouse. The winning genre, or categories are Commercial, Public Service Announcement, Short Documentary, Promotional, Narrative/Comedy, Educational, Experimental, Computer Graphics, Digital Special Effects, Music Video, Jr Experimental, Jr PSA and the Directors Award.
