Share the Beach Docent Training
Enjoy long walks on the beach and birdwatching? Become a Share the Beach Volunteer Docent! Volunteers are needed to walk local beaches while collecting data on wildlife and beach use. Those willing are encouraged to share information with other beach users about beach ecology, beach regulations, and the Western Snowy Plover, a small threatened shorebird that nests on local beaches. A full training will take place on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be beginning at the BLM Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Rd. Please bring a lunch and dress for a field trip to Clam Beach County Park. For more information or to R.S.V.P., please contact Friends of the Dunes.
