Saturday Speaker Series: Stock Schlueter "Being Here"
Join us for an insightful session with renowned local artist Stock Schlueter as part of our Saturday Speaker Series on Saturday, November 2nd, at 2:30 PM at the Clarke Historical Museum.
In his talk, “Being Here,” Stock will explore his lifelong artistic journey, shaped by the natural beauty of Northern California. Born in Oakland in 1949 and raised in Willow Creek, Stock's connection to the landscape around him has deeply influenced his art. After earning a Fine Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado, he returned to Northern California, where he began showcasing his work in local galleries.
Over the years, Stock has made a name for himself through his watercolor and oil painting work. His career highlights include selections to prestigious exhibitions such as the California Statewide Watercolor and Drawing Survey Exhibition and the National Midyear Exhibition in Youngstown, Ohio. His art has been featured in galleries across the United States, from California to Washington, D.C., and beyond.
A devoted plein-air painter, Stock has traveled extensively to capture landscapes, including a remarkable year-long painting excursion across the U.S. with his wife Rachel, during which he created 250 plein-air works. He has also painted internationally, including a month-long journey in Bhutan with fellow artist Paul Rickard. Stock’s dedication to his craft has earned him numerous awards and recognitions, and he continues to push the boundaries of his art.
