The Clarke Historical Museum, the Humboldt County Historical Society, and the Humboldt County Library invite you to join us for the December Speaker Series as local historian Jerry Rohde presents “Northern Humboldt Indians,” the fifth volume in his series “History of Humboldt Peoples and Places.” This talk will offer insights into the early history of seven Indigenous tribes of Northern Humboldt: the Wiyot, Yurok, Karuk, Hupa, Tsnungwe, Whilkut, and Mawenok.
With over 30 years of dedication to studying Humboldt's human and natural history, Jerry brings a wealth of knowledge shaped by years of research, over 500 cultural reports, and a deep partnership with his wife, Gisela.
Volumes 2-5 of the series are published by the Press at Cal Poly Humboldt and are available as free electronic downloads on their website, with support from the Humboldt County Historical Society.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the rich Indigenous history of Humboldt directly from a celebrated local author!
