Adopt A Grandparent Program
I am so excited about our first Mary Kay "ADOPT A GRANDPARENT" program this holiday season! Our local group of Mary Kay Consultants is adopting residents of nursing homes in Humboldt County! Many of the residents have few if any visitors and receive little, if anything, during the holidays. The festive gifts that we are putting together, will include Mint Bliss Energizing Lotion for Feet and Legs with socks and Lip balm along with a plush stuffed animal to give these folks some much needed joy. The items are specifically requested by the facilities' caregivers and they benefit the residents in several ways ~ soothing their hands & feet; the "touch therapy" of having the creams applied; comfort from the soft, warm socks and a feeling of contentment having something as simple as a plush stuffed animal to hug! Several days before Christmas consultants, their children and grand children as well as participants from Gaining Ground (Adult Day Program) will make the rounds personally to deliver the gifts! We are asking friends, family, customers and businesses in the community to help us with this project by "adopting" a grandparent for the Holidays. Your $25 will sponsor a special gift for a resident and enable them to have a Merry Christmas! I am matching each $25 donation so that 2 residents will be given a gift. Your name or business card will be attached to the gift. I know that your are probably inundated with request to "give, give and give some more", but if you are able to adopt 1 or several grandparents, it would be so appreciated. Please consider what a blessing this is for the men and women in these facilities who once lived and worked in our local communities.
