National Zoo Keeper Week
Come celebrate Zoo Keeper Week at the Sequoia Park Zoo! The Redwood Coast American Association of Zoo Keepers chapter is organizing events at the zoo all week that highlight the important roles that zoo keepers fill as animal care professionals, educators, and conservationists. On Sunday July 17 from 12-2pm, learn about the role of zoo keepers in conservation with a free conservation activity table. On Wednesday July 20 from 11am-1pm, join zoo keepers as they explain the basics of animal enrichment and training. And don’t miss the hilarious, parody Zoo Keeper Olympics on Saturday July 23rd at 2pm! At every event, visitors can purchase raffle tickets to win a selfie safari around the Sequoia Park Zoo – a behind-the-scenes visit in three animal exhibits where you and a friend can take selfies as you go. Raffle tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5, or 7 for $10! Half of the proceeds are donated to tiger conservation, and half are donated to the Redwood Coast AAZK Professional Development Fund.
