Mad River Transit Singers
The Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre presents Mad River Transit Singers performing an upbeat program featuring a variety of musical styles—from jazz standards to more modern tunes. Join us on Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Fulkerson Recital Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at tickets.humboldt.edu/dance-music-theatre
The evening’s program includes the high energy “Sweet Georgia Brown,” originally recorded by Ben Bernie, and Billy Strayhorn’s well-known standard “Take the A Train,” which was the signature tune of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. The group keeps the audience moving with the passion of the Brazilian samba with Jorge Ben’s “Mas Que Nada.” Artie Shaw’s bluesy “Moonray” gets a modern twist as arranged by Rosana Eckert. Bernie Wayne’s expressive ballad “Blue Velvet” has been recorded many times and was a top tune of Tony Bennett. The group keeps it interesting with an Afro-Cuban take on Cole Porter’s “I Get a Kick Out of You.” This is sure to be a fun concert you won’t want to miss!
