Lunch Box: When Women Tell the Truth
Presentation, “Becoming a Press: How I became a feminist literary publisher, whose most recent publication is the popular anthology, “When a Woman Tells the Truth, Writing and Creative Works by Women Over 80”.
“Freedom of the press is for those that own one”, A.J. Liebling once said. All my life, I have been fighting censorship and sexism, while writing, creating art and promoting fine artists and excellent writers. Owning a publishing house and producing books which I design, edit, format, print and distribute has been a labor of love since 1993, when, as a journeyman printer, I began Many Names Press. Many Names Press is in the final stages of publishing a new book of poems by a local icon, called “Black Silk and Other Poems; The Creative Work of Ruth Mountaingrove”.
A dozen or so feminist authors’ books will be available at the presentation for sale.
Each lunchbox in the series comes with homemade soup, salad, bread, and a beverage. Soups vary daily, with meat and vegetarian options. Take your lunch break at the Playhouse with a homemade meal and an inspiring art talk at the Zero To Fierce Festival Lunchbox Series!
