Let's Talk about the Middle East

As part of the Let's Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of "Baran," directed by Majid Majidi. This film offers a glimpse into the lives of Afghani refugees in Tehran (then over a million, now almost 3 million). The romantic film tells the story of Lateef, a young Iranian man, and Baran, a young Afghan refugee girl, who disguises herself as a boy to work at a construction site after her father is injured and can no longer support his family.

The screening and discussion will take place at Richard's Goat miniplex (401 I Street, Arcata) on Thursday, March 2, at 7 p.m.
