Jeffrey Lewis, The ComiX Trip Film Premiere
Jeffrey Lewis & Los Bolts, an NYC based "anti-folk" group, will be touring their new album Manhattan.
It's been over 3 years since singer/songwriter/cartoonist Jeffrey Lewis has played in Arcata. His live songs are often accompanied by his projected drawings, which can either be fun & hilarious, or politcal/historical in nature. You might want to bring extra $ for his comic book series Fuff (check the merch table at the show)

The ComiX Trip is Arcata's only storytelling act that includes live sound effects and projected drawings. Violet Crabtree's original comic book stories are often funny, science fiction-y, ghostly, or fantastic and surreal.
Musical saw and othe noises/music accompany the stories, while Violet uses her patented "false animation" technique with her overhead projector for visuals.

The Offical Premiere of The ComiX Trip Short Films!!! In 2013, a group of friends got together and filmed live-action versions of several ComiX Trip stories.
The Giantess, completed in 2015, has been shown at The Arcata Theater Lounge and The Ashland Film Festival. The Fruit of Jonesy premiered at The Minor Theater in September of this year. Three more films: The Crows of Arcata, The Evolution of the Crows of Arcata, and The Office in the Clouds will be shown at The Miniplex for the first time ever!!! These films include lots of claymation, some animation, and stop-motion using paper, as well as live footage.
