Humboldt County Fair Gala Preview
Humboldt County Fair's Gala Preview will take place on Aug. 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Flower House at the fairgrounds in Ferndale. This popular pre-fair event is a preview of the flower and plant exhibits displayed in the Flower House, held the night before the fair opens.
It is “a pleasant social event in an atmosphere of music, beauty and fragrance,” according to organizer Dorian Lowry. “Scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and wine will be served, and the first 100 guests can keep their wine goblets for keepsakes, inscribed with the Fair Gala inscription.”
The suggested donation is $15 for one goblet and $25 for two.
The Fair Gala is an important event that contributes to the Ferndale Garden Club's Scholarship Fund and benefits the people who enter the floral and plant exhibits. Cash prizes are awarded to the exhibitors for their hard work and creativity.
As an added feature at this year's Fair Gala Preview, guests will have an opportunity to attend the Fine Arts and Photography critiques across the street at Hindley Hall and the Red Barn, starting at 5:30 p.m., an hour before the Gala Preview begins that night.
The Ferndale Garden Club is a nonprofit organization whose members work to provide services and incentives to benefit the Ferndale community and the greater Humboldt community at large.
