HSU Percussion Ensemble and Calypso Band
Presenting contemporary and experimental music for Percussion Ensemble, the pulsating sounds of the Brazilian Samba, the exciting rhythms of West Africa, and the high-energy dance music of the Humboldt State Calypso Band, this is a show that is guaranteed to entertain! Directed by Eugene Novotney and Howard Kaufman, this HSU Department of Music concert will include a composition featuring fourteen percussionists playing 47 different instruments, a thirty piece samba band playing authentic instruments from Brasil, and the HSU Calypso Band, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary last spring, and holds the distinction of being the first ensemble of its kind in the entire California State University System. Saturday, December 3 at 8:00 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre, HSU. $10 General, $5 Senior/Child, $3 for HSU students with ID.
