76th Anniversary 1939 Movie Marathon
The Eureka Theater turns 76 years old this March, and we're marking the occasion with a 1939 classic movie marathon! Join us for nearly 9 hours of classic films from 1939, arguably the greatest year in movie history. The fun begins at 1:00 PM (doors open at 12:30)--follow Dorothy and friends down the yellow brick road and see THE WIZARD OF OZ as it was meant to be seen--on the big screen.
At 3:00 PM, sigh and be reminded why congress only has a 16% approval rating--they're not all Jimmy Stewart in MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON. ...the one, the only GONE WITH THE WIND at 5:30 PM. Yes, it definitely has its cringe-inducing moments--folks just weren't as enlightened 76 years ago. But there's no resisting its gorgeous Technicolor photography, swelling Max Steiner score and the passionate, turbulent love story between Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) and Rhett Butler (Clark Gable). Admission is at original 1939 prices: Thirty-five cents for adults, ten cents for kids 12 and under. No advance tickets. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be sold beginning at 5:00 PM.
