GUNSAFE originally from Arcata, now located in New Mexico. Stella, Rachael and Norm have been playing as Gunsafe with the help of a number of other musicians for roughly 6 years in Humboldt County. Stella is a singer and songwriter from New Mexico. Her songs are classic Americana country music featuring soulful vocals and multi part vocal harmonies with acoustic instruments Guitar, bass, accordion, fiddle, and xylophone. The music is uptempo and soulful, and they feature their own dedicated dancer, Isaac Bluefoot of the Kinetic Paranormal Society, when they play Arcata ensuring a foot stompin good time. CAITLIN GEMMA & THE GOODNESS originally from Arcata, now located in Eugene, OR. “Swirling, mist-covered folk that reaches into the great divide and assures everything will be all right.” -Eugene Weekly Caitlin Jemma is a small-town girl with a big country heart. Speaking to adventure, self-discovery, and ancestry, her songwriting reflects roots in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. Together as a five-piece string band from Eugene, Oregon, Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness perform original tunes that are influenced by tradition and delivered with soul. With music that is sung from the heart, inspired by nature, and yearns for the simple life, Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness bring a wholesome and enlivened energy to the deep rooted traditions of storytelling folk. A childhood spent in the high desert of Northern Nevada, surrounded by country western artists, a lifelong penchant for writing poetry, and a love for music ranging from Bob Dylan to Cat Power, contribute to the natural ease and sincerity that flows throughout Jemma’s songwriting. With vocals tempered by country, bluegrass, and Appalachia, Jemma’s style and execution is sweet, but rugged, rowdy, and uncompromising. Singing with passionate authenticity she radiates strength, yet is not afraid to expose her own inner fragility. Led by Caitlin Jemma (guitar, vocals), The Goodness consists of: Liat Lis (banjo, vocals), Megan Graham (fiddle), Kyle McGonegle (mandolin, vocals), and Michael Steinkirchner (bass, vocals). With three self-released albums to her credit (solo and with band) – Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness EP (2015), Lick Them Wounds (2013), Home Means the Hills (2012), and a growing tour and festival calendar, Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness are quickly becoming a fixture on the Northwest acoustic music scene. Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness have shared the stage with Peter Rowan, The Brothers Comatose, Shook Twins, and John Craigie to name a few, and were chosen as a 2016 Folk Alliance International Official Showcase performer. Caitlin Jemma & The Goodness is a bold and spirited female fronted band, bringing a fresh sense of creativity and inspiration to contemporary roots music. “There is beauty in pain, and beauty in bliss,” Jemma says. “With my music I’d like to offer the full spectrum, and show others that fearlessness to express who you are. It is a journey into wholeness.” caitlinjemma.com
