“Separating effects of crown structure and competition for light on trunk growth of Sequoia sempervirens”. Tree-level productivity is largely determined by crown size and aboveground vigor, but light availability ultimately controls growth. The wide range of tree structures and light environments in multiage forests necessitates models that can account for the effects of tree structure and light availability on trunk growth.
