Artist Reception for Vanessa Veck and Jessica Friedlander Gallery Show of their newest works Friday, August 9th, 5-7pm at 520 S. G Street, Arcata.
Friedlander describes herself as an “autistic creative.” Her themes spring from her early love of classical mythology, social justice and her delight with the comically absurd. Her current work explores mother goddesses. Many of her figures are representative of cows and other animal figures.
Veck’s works are a study on the nature of changing states: capturing delicacy, movement and disintegration. Her exploration of textures and caverns serves an an invitation to return to our senses. “I take great joy in observing the natural world, experimenting with different creative mediums, and quieting the mind”
