Falk's Claim: Headwaters History Hike
The BLM welcomes Jon Gates, author of a book about the former Humboldt County logging town of Falk, to the Headwaters Forest Reserve. Gates will lead a guided hike followed by a question and answer period. Falk was built in the 1880s and its saw mill operated through the 1920s. The former town site is now within the BLM-managed Headwaters Forest Reserve. The guided hike will begin at the Headwaters Education Center, which can be accessed via a half-mile hike from the BLM’s Elk River Trailhead. The Elk River Trailhead is located six miles southeast of Eureka at the end of Elk River Road.
