Sullivan’s Travels (1941)
A comedy director wants to make a powerful social-problems film. When his producers point out that he knows nothing about trouble or poverty, he goes on the road as a hobo, and is soon joined by a down-on-her-luck aspiring actress. Stars Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake. Direction and screenplay by Preston Sturges.
