Ecological History of Local Coastal Dunes
The Humboldt Coastal Dunes Cooperative invites the public to attend an information meeting about the Ecological History of Local Coastal Dunes at the Arcata Community Center’s Senior Room on Wednesday, May 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This meeting will feature presentations about the history of the invasive dune plants European beach grass and yellow bush lupine, and the evolution of the Mad River dune system. Featured speakers will include Jennifer Wheeler, Botanist at the Bureau of Land Management’s Arcata Field office, and Andrea Pickart, Ecologist at Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The Humboldt Coastal Dunes Cooperative facilitates coordinated ecosystem management of coastal dune environments through collaboration among stakeholders. Meet at 321 Community Park Way in Arcata.
