Arcata Recreation Summer Camps Registration Opens Monday, April 4th Enroll your children into ten weeks of summer fun! The City of Arcata Recreation Division offers Summer Recreation Camps for youth between 4-14 years of age. Redwood Day Camp (ages 5-12) Campers participate in a wide variety of games, art, cooking, fieldtrips, swimming and much more. Redwood Day Camp teaches real life skills in socialization, leadership, and teamwork while exploring the world of nature, art, and cooperative learning in the beautiful setting of Redwood Park. Redwood Day Camp runs daily: June 20 - August 26. Full-Day Weekly Fee (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.): $140 or Half-Day Weekly Fee (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.): $100 (add $10/week for non-Arcata resident). Full-Day Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $112/$124 non-resident or Half-Day Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $80/$90 non-resident. For no additional charge, Extended Care hours are offered with drop-off as early as 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up at 5:30 p.m. Redwood Day Camp is held at Redwood Lodge in Redwood Park. Dance Camp (ages 7-9) Dancers learn the latest dance moves and experiment with dance styles while working on core competencies. Open to dancers of all levels who have a love of dance and a willingness to learn and have fun. Each week culminates with a Friday All-Camp Performance. Dance Camp runs: June 20-24, June 27-July 1 and Aug 8-12 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Dance Camp is held at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park. Mini Movers Dance Camp (ages 4-6) This creative movement camp, teaches mini movers components of dance while exploring music, choreography, coordination, exercise, and flexibility! Open to dancers of all levels who have a love of dance and a willingness to learn and have fun. Each week culminates with a Friday All-Camp Performance. Mini Movers Dance Camp runs: July 5-8, July 11-15, and August 15-19 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $80/$90 non-resident. Mini Movers Dance Camp is held at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park and the Gymnastics Room at the Arcata Community Center, 321 Dr. MLK, Jr. Parkway. Art Camp (ages 7-12) Artists explore the visual arts, while discovering their own style. Art Camp runs: June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 25-29, August 1-5 and August 8-12 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Art Camp is held in the Arcata Community Center’s Teen Room, 321 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway. Young Creators Art Camp (ages 4-6) Young aspiring artists play games and activities with focus on art projects. Young Creators Art Camp runs: July 5-8, July 11-15, July 18-22 and August 15-19 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $80/$90 non-resident. Young Creators Art Camp is held in the Arcata Community Center’s Teen Room, 321 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway. Young Explorers Science Camp (ages 4-6) Young explorers investigate the natural world with fun experiments, individual projects and engaging science learning. Explore, discover and enjoy the “WOW” of science in your own backyard. Young Explorers Science Camp runs: June 27-July 1, July 25-29, August 1-5 and August 8-12 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Young Explorers Science Camp is held at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, 569 South G Street. Marsh Explorers Science Camp (ages 7-9) Marsh explorers investigate the natural world with weekly experiments, individual projects and engaging science learning. Explore, discover and enjoy the “WOW” of science in your own backyard. Marsh Explorers Science Camp runs: June 20-24, July 5-8, July 18-22 and August 15-19 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Adventure Camp (ages 10-14) Adventure seekers gain lifelong skills while challenging their individual limits: wilderness survival, tracking, navigation and orienteering, fire safety and cooking and adventure prep. Each week offers new activities and adventures. Adventure Camp runs: June 20-24, July 5-8, July 11-15, July 18-22, August 15-19 and August 22-26 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $80/$90 non-resident. Adventure Camp is held in Redwood Park, 14th Street entrance. Skate Camp (ages 6-14) Youth of all skill levels learn how to be safe and have fun at our local skate park. Instructed by skilled, local skateboarders, this program focuses on park safety, park etiquette, street and vert riding and of course style. Skate Camp runs daily: June 20-24 for 6-14 years from 9 a.m. to1 p.m., June 27-July 1 for 6-9 years from 1 to 5 p.m., July 11-15 for 6-14 years from 9 a.m. to1 p.m., July 18-22 for 6-14 years from 1 to 5 p.m., Girls Shred with Kelly July 18-22 for 6-14 years from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and August 1-5 for 6-14 years from 9 a.m. to1 p.m. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Skate Camp is held at the Arcata Skate Park on Sunset Avenue. Skate Day Workshops (ages 6-14) Novice Workshop: Thursday, June 23 from 1 to 5 p.m., Learn to drop-in! Expert Workshop: Thursday, August 4 from 1 to 5 p.m., Get above the coping! Workshop Fee: $23/$25 for non-residents. Skate Workshops are held at the Arcata Skate Park on Sunset Avenue. Theater Camp (ages 9-14) Theater campers train their voices and bodies for performance, experiment with improve, and learn the basics of set building, costuming, stage makeup and more, all out in the fresh air under the Redwoods. Redwood Theater Camp runs: July 11-15, July 18-22, July 25-29 and August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Weekly Fee: $100 (add $10/week for non-resident). Redwood Theater Camp is held at the Redwood Lounge in Redwood Park. Camp Combo: Enroll your camper for all day fun with a morning camp (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) then for the remainder of the day (1 to 5 p.m.) choose a specialty camp. Weekly Combo Fee: $140/$160 for non-resident. Weekly Combo Fee for Week 3, July 5-8: $112/$132 non-resident. Some Camp Combos require parents to transport your camper to the next camp.
