Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir
The spirit-filled Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir sings with the award-winning blues singer Earl Thomas.
For over 20 years, the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir has sung out its message of faith, hope, love and joy. The 80-voice choir serves the North Coast region by singing at community events, fundraising benefits, memorials, churches, and for inmates at the Humboldt County jail.
Earl Thomas will sing selections from his “Plantation Gospel” CD. Thomas’ roots are from Pikeville, Tennessee blues and gospel. In his professional career, he has combined blues, rock, soul, gospel, and R&B, to meld a sound uniquely Earl Thomas. Thomas tours extensively in the United States and Europe, and has produced numerous CDs of his music. See earlthomasmusic.com
This year, instead of culminating their season with the Community Prayer Breakfast, the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir is performing at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts, a theatre known for the wonderful atmosphere and excellent acoustics.
The Rejoicing in Song concert will be filmed and recorded in order to produce a CD and DVD, and the choir will perform in colorful robes designed and made locally. Jim Hubbard directs the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir; the band is lead by Bob Ebenstein. The Arcata Interfaith Youth Gospel Choir will perform a selection with the adult choir. Hors d’oeuvres and a no host bar will be available at a 6 PM Reception, and during Intermission. See arcatainterfaithgospelchoir.com.
There will be a reception at 6 PM before the performance.
