Arcata Celebrates Water Week

LET’S CELEBRATE WATER The City of Arcata celebrates the beneficial uses of water during Water Week, May 3-9, 2015. Water Week is a unique opportunity for both water professionals and our community to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives. We invite you to learn more about this precious resource with fun activities and events offered throughout the week. Designed for youth, pre-K through 12th grade, the Poster Contest is a great way for kids to think about water in their own lives. The theme this year is “What is your favorite thing to do with water?” Submissions are due by 5 pm on Friday, May 8. Another fun and educational activity is the Passport of Water Fun Facts. Grab a passport from one of the many participating businesses and head out on the town to find your answers and stamps. Drop off your completed passport at our Water Week table at Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 9 for the chance to win some prizes. Come by our table at the market for great information on a variety of water topics, demonstrations, a display of the Poster Contest winners and even some take home goodies. The City of Arcata also offers several tours on Saturday, May 9; Alliance Transfer Station, Water Tank and Booster Station in Redwood Park and two Wastewater Treatment Plant Tours. We are all stewards of the water infrastructure upon which future generations depend. As a community, let's learn more about our water during Water Week. Let's Celebrate Water!
