Celebrating the age of Aquarius and Humboldt's queer and colorful community! Humboldt State University's Queer Student Union is excited to host a "Paris Is Burning" style BALL runway competition, and fabulous show starring YOU and some of Humboldt's finest drag and burlesque performers! Emceed by the incredible and fierce, hostess with the moistest, Mantrikka HO! Catagories for the BALL include, Kingest King, Queenest Queen, and Queerest Queer! Fabulous Prizes!!! Cabaret Performances by: Mantrikka HO Ophelia Cox Jennay Sekwa Lady Sedusa Alicia Lovejoy Rico Suave Raulín Tucker Noir Hugh Johnson Grrrlz 2 Men April Shower Kingest King 2016- Deanie Babie Kingest King 2015 and more TBA! Finger food and refreshments! FREE!! ALL AGES!! BALL will begin at 7pm. Be Ready! Queer Cabaret starts after the BALL, 9pm The HSU Men's rowing team will be providing on-site SEQUEERITY (SECURITY) during the BALL to help ensure that the event is a safe space, and welcoming to all. They will provide escort to your vehicle after the event for anyone who doesn't feel safe walking alone. Please no alcohol or drugs. QSU will host a movie viewing of "Paris Is Burning", and discussion, on Thursday 2/15, 5:30pm in Founders Hall 125 ***NOW WERK! *** In preparation for the upcoming ball, Mantrikka HO will be offering a Class and a Werkshop! CLASS - teaching new school waaking (AKA vouge) class within their Hip Hop class, focusing on upper body, ground game, dips, and walks. 5-$10. Fridays! NOTAFLOF @ Synapsis Nova 212 G Eureka.5-6pm. WERKSHOP-Preparing Your BALLS - Tuesday Feb. 14th Gist Hall 02 An exploration of the dance, movements, art form and lifestyle that is Voguing, in preparation for the upcoming AQUEERius ball on Febuary 17th, 2017. This Workshop will cover New School Waaking (voguing) which includes: upper body movement, floor performance, dips, walks and shablams, walking with pride, conceptualized identity, and character development.
