Amy Goodman

Public radio stations KHSU and KMUD are bringing Amy Goodman, host of the internationally broadcast radio and television program, Democracy Now!, to Eureka’s Sequoia Conference Center on Sunday, May 14.

Goodman is speaking in Humboldt as part of her national tour, Democracy Now!: Twenty Years of Covering the Movements Changing America and Changing the World. The appearance is a benefit for KHSU and KMUD.

Goodman will speak and sign books at the event from noon until 2:00 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. KMUD-Redwood Community Radio, will be selling hot and cold beverages, pastries and other food to fundraise for the Redway-based community radio station. Other local public media outlets, KIDE-Hoopa Tribal Radio and Access Humboldt will have representatives at the event to talk with listeners and viewers.

Tickets for the event are $10 through brownpapertickets.com or at the door the day of the event. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Sequoia Conference Center is located at 901 Myrtle Avenue, Eureka. It is part of the Humboldt County Office of Education facilities.

Amy Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now! a daily, global grassroots news hour, broadcasting on over 1,400 public television and radio stations around the U.S. and the world, with millions accessing it online at democracynow.org. An acclaimed international journalist, she has won the Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the Alternative Nobel Prize. Goodman is also the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from Harvard’s Nieman Foundation of Journalism, the George Polk Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting, and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award.

KHSU is a public radio station licensed to Humboldt State University.
