Explore Redwood National and State Park by day or night! 2:30 PM "Uncover the Secrets of the Gold Bluffs" Join ranger Steven at Fern Canyon for an exploration of the secrets of Gold Bluffs. Meet at the Fern Canyon parking lot. Bring good walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. State Park day use fee required. America the Beautiful passes are accepted. Take Davison Road from Hwy 101. The Fern Canyon parking lot is 8 miles from Highway 101; plan on about a half hour of travel. Davison Road is a narrow dirt and gravel road with two stream crossings. Trailers are not permitted. 8:45 PM "Ancient Trees Lit by Ancient Stars" Join ranger Shaina at the Dolason Trailhead 11.2 miles up Bald Hills Road for night sky viewing above the fog. Bring a flashlight, blanket and/or chairs. Bugspray is also recommended. Topics vary and will generally include a telescope viewing and a laser tour of the stars. Junior Ranger Night Explorer packets and patches are available. If cloudy, join the ranger for a 2.6 mile round-trip hike to the historic Dolason barn and back.
