Benefit for Jeff Brown

When Jeff Brown, went to his volunteer post at the Summer Arts & Music Festival’s First Aid tent last June, he probably didn’t think he’d be the one needing first aid, but that’s exactly what happened. Only moments after starting his shift, several old growth redwood branches came down in a chain reaction that knocked Brown to the ground. The freak accident left Brown with knots on his head, contusions on his back, a compressed neck, a cracked tooth and his right ankle was broken in three places.

Five months later, while Brown has been out of the wheelchair since September, he is still healing and walks with assistance of a walker and crutches.

Unfortunately insurance and hasn’t covered all the expenses and Brown’s wife, Vera estimates the uncovered medical expenses in the $10,000 range. His daughter Bonnie Brown started a donation fund to help pay for expenses and lost income on gofundme.com which as of this writing has raised $4,715.

The Mateel Community Center is holding a benefit for Brown on Friday, November 22nd to help pay for debt incurred while he's been off work and from medical expenses.
