2015 Literacy Conference

Focusing on teaching literacy with Common Core Standards, the Redwood Writing Project's 2015 Conference: Literacy Connections will offer something of value to educators of all disciplines and grade levels. Each summer a group of kindergarten through college teachers of varied disciplines meet to share their knowledge and further develop their crafts of writing and the teaching of writing in the Redwood Writing Project’s Summer Institute. The goal of the program is for teachers to take their new skills into their classrooms, refine their teaching craft through research and practice and to ultimately share their findings and develop training for colleagues. The Redwood Writing Project is housed at Humboldt State University and is affiliated with the National Writing Project (NWP) and California Writing Project (CWP). This year, the RWP teacher consultants have organized their findings and prepared workshops to be presented on Saturday, February 28th at Founder's Hall from 8:30 to 4:30. The results are an array of workshops featuring timely topics such as Using Ted Talks for Teaching Informative Writing and Improving Narrative Writing: Show, Don’t Tell. Participants will have a choice of four workshops from twelve total options. Pre registration fee is $75.00 and includes breakfast & lunch. Discounted registrations offered to RWP teacher consultants, CATE & BTSA members and students of HSU/CR. One-half unit of university credit available for an additional $40. To register online please visit www.humboldt.edu/~rwp or call the RWP office at 826-5109 for more details.
