11th Annual Great Humboldt Trivia Challenge

The Humboldt Literacy Project continues to attack serious problems in fun ways with its eleventh annual Great Humboldt Trivia Challenge, 5:30 p.m. Sunday April 3, at Cher-Ae Heights Casino.

There is still time to register a team of three intellectual titans to compete in this friendly-and-ferocious, three round trivia tournament.

The evening starts with a delicious buffet dinner designed to please a wide swath of dietary preferences, and a no-host bar.

New this year: Teams that do not know the correct answer to a question may submit their most sarcastic wrong answer to compete for the "Humor Prize" at the end of the night.

There is also a prize basket for the team that gets the best audience response to be named "crowd favorite."

Audience members not playing on a team may pay to bid their answers into a 50/50 raffle, the pot winner will be drawn from the correct answers.

Obviously, we have a Literary Themed Costume Contest! Players and spectators may compete for best group or individual costume, so come dressed as your favorite author or character from literature.

As usual, the event includes a top notch silent auction including art, gifts, services, even a week's vacation rental in Portland.

And of course there is still time to become a team sponsor and get some glory in our event program for facilitating a team that was perhaps stymied by the registration fees.

The Great Humboldt Trivia Challenge is the primary annual fundraiser supporting Humboldt Literacy Project, Humboldt's one place for free, confidential, one-on-one English literacy tutoring for adults, 14,000 of whom are functionally illiterate in Humboldt County.
