On March 1st 2009, a small plane went down just short of the Arcata/Eureka Airport. Although air traffic control in Seattle tracked the plane, watched it disappear off the radar and contacted the airport with it's concern, no search and rescue took place for 12 hours. Why?
DJ Cliff Berkowitz interviewed Dax Williamson, Board Chair for the Humboldt County Airport Advisory Committee & Pilot. Also Bill Davidson, Alternate for the Humboldt County Airport Advisory Committee and former Vice-Chair.
Davidson is also a commercial pilot, flight instructor and flies for the Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue. Sheila Jenkins, Daughter of one of the crash victims was also interviewed. Click here to hear this interview.
