Welcome to Willits (2017) - Humbolt Premiere!
It's set in Willits, it's got '80s action star Dolph Lundgren, a scruffy drifter named Oppossum played by one of the Culkin brothers, meth-addicted weed farmers, an "ominous convenience store clerk" obsessed with Bigfoot, unlucky teens just looking for some hot springs, and maybe even aliens (or are they?).
Of course this new horror-comedy sounded like the perfect film to kick off the Halloween season, NorCal style. Welcome to Willits opens on the Minor's main screen Friday 9/29 (one night only) before continuing it's run ALL MONTH at The Miniplex- culminating in a Champagne Gala with Filmmakers in attendence for Q&A on Saturday10/28!!!
Based on their acclaimed SXSW short "Welcome to Willits: Sundown," the Ryan brothers wrote this film collaboratively while one of them was in federal prison on cannabis related charges, mailing the script back and forth and meeting in the prison's visiting center. This is a filmmaker Q & A session you don't want to miss!
