Sounds (Like) A Monster
Original Jazz meets vintage sci-fi Films in “Sounds (Like) A Monster” at the Arcata Playhouse.
Local trumpeter Nick Talvola brings together an ensemble of Humboldt Jazz musicians to feature some luscious arrangements of original compositions, a few lesser known tunes, and plenty of improvisation, with a backdrop of vintage sci-fi films. Joining Talvola are guitarist Jonathan Townes, John Wood (piano), Shane Fox (drums), Alex Montesdeoca (upright bass), and Russ Thallheimer (tenor sax).
Along with films being projected during the show, the Playhouse will be set up for cabaret seating with small tables for a lounging atmosphere, and will be serving specialty cocktails along with wine and beer. Join them for a smooth blend of live jazz and classic monster films.
