The Seaside Soap Box Derby will be a weekend of racing, recreation, imbibing and most of all merrymaking!  Join us in Shelter Cove for this new and exciting fundraiser for the Southern Humboldt Community Park. Participants either enter their own cars, become spectators or use this opportunity to support the park by becoming event sponsors!  The race will take place Saturday, March 28th on Upper Pacific starting at Ocean View and ending at the south end entrance of the Shelter Cove Community Center. 

Interested in competing? We have a few options for you. You can either choose to purchase a kit (the kit can be found here:  http://www.gokit.com/) or you can build your own car.  Home built cars need to abide by a few simple rules about the dimensions of the car, the weight of the car and the ability of the driver to steer and stop the vehicle. Spectators Tickets?   We’ve got you covered!  Be it coming for dinner, the race, brunch or fully embracing the soapbox culture and diving head deep into the entire event.  Read on to see individual event details.

FRIDAY NIGHT 6-9PM
DRIVERS DINNER

Want to check out the cars, meet the drivers and enjoy some delicious food?  Then join us Friday, March 27th as we do just that. We’ll have the cars lined up and on display and you’ll get to meet the amazing folks that will be driving them.  Further, your ticket to this event will include a special dinner created just for this event by Chef Robert Mason. Cost is $30 but save some money when you choose to purchase the Soap Box Derby Package.

SATURDAY 1 PM
RACE DAY!

Ladies and Gentlemen come ready for some action. The starting line for the Seaside Soap Box Derby is at the corner of Upper Pacific and Ocean View Drive. Cars will whisk by as they race to the finish line at the Shelter Cove Community Center. Individual tickets for this are $6, Family of two adults and up to 5 kids is $22 or go big and save by purchasing the Soap Box Derby Package.

Seaside Soap Box Derby Award Ceremony & Live Music

Drum roll please… The award for the fastest car and the most creative contraption goes to…. Join us Saturday at 6 pm as we hand out the awards to the winners of the Seaside Soap Box Derby.  Live music will start at 7pm. The cost to attend is $10 but did we mention we have a package that covers it all…

SUNDAY 10 - 2 PM
HOT LAP BRUNCH

A Lost Coast weekend isn’t over until brunch is over, right? The last leg of this fantastic weekend includes the Hot Lap Brunch. If the weather is clear you can watch golfers, planes and the waves roll in. Pair that with bottomless Michaladas or Mimosas and honestly, it’s hard to say no! $30 per person for brunch. Two-hour window on bottomless beverages.  Hint, hint, save money when you purchase a package!
