Rob and Christine Bonner

Nevada City-based string duo Rob and Christine Bonner will appear in Ferndale on Friday, April 12. As founder and bass player with Northern California’s former all-star bluegrass band, South Loomis Quickstep, Rob has shared the stage with legends including Buck Owens, Hoyt Axton, Emmy Lou Harris and Doc Watson. (A longtime teacher at Rainbow Music Company, which he owns with wife, Christine, he also taught guitar to Old Steeple owner Paul Beatie). Christine is a top-selling folk harpist whose musical style includes a blend of Latin, Celtic, classical and jazz, and is often influenced by her early California ancestors, the Berryessa family, who were among the first Spanish/Mexican land grant holders in California before the Gold Rush. The Bonners will be joined by guitarist Bill Edwards, who has worked with many bands including The South Loomis Quickstep and Way Out West, and string bassist Brett Cole, known for his work with surf rockers The Pyronauts, various jazz and classical ensembles, and The Bob Woods Trio.
