RLA jazz trio will bring featured vocalist Paula Jones and special guest Dona Baraka, saxophone, to Westhaven Center for the Arts, as part of a bimonthly Third Friday Jazz series. Paula's style mixes the spiritual intensity of gospel with the subtle creativity of jazz. She is a premier soloist for the 'Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir' and a regular with RLA, and has been featured on a PBS concert special. With her father as a Pastor, Paula, along with her five sisters, literally grew up singing in the church. The RLA, as featured house band for the series, brings a wide variety of styles and solosits to the stage within the jazz relm; talented and flexible, members are Tim Randles, keyboard, Mike LaBolle, drums, and Kenneth Lawrence, electric bass.
