(CANCELED) RENT -- School Edition

The Arcata Arts Institute presents RENT School Edition, a rock musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson, adapted from the Pulitzer Prize and four-time Tony Award winning play Rent. Based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème, RENT School Edition tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan's East Village, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Directed by Melanie Zapper, with musical direction by Jo Kuzelka, RENT School Edition tackles topics of gentrification, substance abuse, healthy relationships, and most importantly, love. This version, while specifically adapted to be suitable for the high school stage, does contain mature themes and language. As such, we highly recommend audience members be over the age of 13, or with guardian permission.

With musical arrangements by Steve Skinner, original concept and additional lyrics by Billy Aronson, and Lynn Thomson as the dramaturg, RENT School Edition runs March 26 thru 27, and April 2 thru 4 at 7 p.m. with a matinee showing on March 28 at 2 p.m. Join us for our Opening Night Special, $5 students/seniors, $8 general admission. All other performances $12 students/seniors, $15 general admission.

Advanced tickets will be available online at https://tinyurl.com/AAIRent, or in person at Wildberries.
