Pony Up Party

From the imagination of Humboldt county visual artist and sculptor Lush Newton and engineer James Hildebrandt comes a fifteen foot tall whimsical pull toy. This giant Pink Polka-dot Peg-legged Pony sculpture is being commissioned by the Arcata Playhouse and the Creamery district. Join them on Friday, September 29 for a Pony Up Party! to raise the remaining funds to complete the project. The event features a pony keg, pony races, pony pasta, pony prizes and general pony mayhem. The fun will also carry over into the Saturday, August 30 Creamery District Art Market.

“We are very excited to be in the home stretch of this epic project and look forward to showing it off to the community.” Said Playhouse organizer David Ferney.  “We are expecting it to be finished and out and about some time in September”.

The public sculpture pony project has been partially funded by the California Arts Council with a generous donation of space for the building of it by Holly Yashi Jewelry and materials by McKinney’s Do It Best.

The Pony Up fund raiser will be held at the Arcata Playhouse at 1251 9th Street from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, September 29 with tickets $10 which includes a pasta and salad or $5 without food. Drinks will be available as well. For more information, phone 822-1575 or visit our website at www.arcataplayhouse.org
