Mr. Humboldt Pageant
The dawn of a new era is upon us. The ingenious minds at Savage Henry Magazine, Blondies Food and Drink and the Arcata Theater Lounge bring you the first ever, first annual, guaranteed legendary Mr. Humboldt Pageant. The competitive, all-male spoof pageant with proceeds to benefit the Women’s Crisis Shelter in Southern Humboldt (WISH), the Humboldt Literacy Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast.
The pageant features a representative sample of men from throughout the county vying for the title of Mr. Humboldt through mastery of manliness and poise in Question and Answer (with questions by local comedians), Beachwear (speedos encouraged), Popularity (the audience votes with their $$s), Talent and Humboldt Formal Wear segments.
The contestants are at the mercy of our panel of celebrity judges, and just like competitors in Miss America, our contestants face elimination at each turn in the competition. The contestant who prevails is dubbed Mr. Humboldt, and as a symbolic gesture of his reign, he is presented with our local artisan-crafted crown and scepter.
Pageant hosts Andrew Goff and Johanna Nagan will lead the men through this competitive odyssey featuring local entertainers including DJ Gabe Pressure throughout.
Competitive, all-male spoof pageant features Q&A, beachwear (speedos encouraged), popularity, talent and formal wear segments. Proceeds to benefit the Women’s Crisis Shelter in Southern Humboldt (WISH), the Humboldt Literacy Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast.
