Mare Wakefield & Nomad are a little bit old country, a lot contemporary folk a la Dar Williams or Patty Griffin.” ~ New York Times "‘Mare Wakefield & Nomad remind us of what it means to feel the sweetness in a song and hear the smiles and the tears in shared stories. Skilled in varied musical styles, they keep an audience engaged and delighted." ~ Dalis Allen, Producer Kerrville Folk Festival Mare Wakefield and Nomad are on the road for three months this year in support of their latest record Time to Fly. Fresh from a 5-week stint in Germany and the Netherlands, the US and Canada tour starts in the Midwest in August, heads west along a northern route — including a handful of shows in Western Canada — follows the Pacific coastline down from Seattle to Southern California, then turns east through the Southwest US, to wrap up in Texas in late October. Mare (pronounced “Mary”) Wakefield and Nomad were 2016 and 2015 finalists at Kerrville’s NewFolk Songwriting Competition (TX) and 2015 Emerging Artists at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY). Their original song “Candles & Carols” was featured in a 2017 Lifetime TV movie. Their 2018 release TIME TO FLY spent four weeks in the Top Ten on the Roots Americana charts and featured the #2 song of the month for Feb 2018 on the Folk DJ radio charts. The Americana duo combines Mare’s strength as an award-winning songwriter with Turkish-born, classically-trained Nomad’s expert piano and accordion skills. Calling Nashville home while touring internationally, this husband-and-wife duo delights audiences with their mix of Americana, old-time country and contemporary folk — with a hint of Turkish rhythms and melodies thrown in for good measure. Don’t miss their live show, which has been called “Cozy brilliance” by the Louisville Observer and “Simply Amazing” by Skope Magazine.
