Library Celebrates Indie Author Day with Pete Springer

In celebration of Indie Author Day, the Humboldt County Library invites you to hear Pete Springer, lifelong educator and new author, share his journey through the self-publishing process — and his book, They Call Me Mom: Making a Difference as an Elementary School Teacher. Pete’s book is meant to inspire new teachers, passing along knowledge and experience essential to the field. It’s full of practical know-how: stories, examples, best practices, and humor. It’s also a fine example of a self-published book that reads well, has a great cover, is packed with useful information, and will find a readership. If you’re a teacher, writer, or curious about self-publishing, don’t miss this chance to learn from a master teacher. Pete Springer is a veteran of 31 years teaching at Pine Hill Elementary School, teaching grades 2-6. He received the Humboldt County Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006 and has served as a master teacher, mentoring four student teachers. Pete is married to another educator, Debbie Springer. Their son teaches too — as a football coach.
