Let's Talk About the Middle East Film Series In Between

As part of the Let's Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of Bar Bahar (In Between, 2016) This film is about the experience of Palestinian women living in Israel, whose lives are constrained by both the political reality of occupation and discrimination, and the patriarchy in Palestinian society. It follows three young Palestinian women who share an apartment in Tel Aviv, where they challenge those constrains. They live in between, “out of the society that we came from, and not really part of the Israeli society in equal ways in the places we live,” as the director described it. The screening and discussion will take place at The Miniplex at Richards' Goat (401 I Street, Arcata) Film series is free and open to all ages. For more information, contact Leena Dallasheh, Project Director at ld1145@humboldt.edu This project was made possible with support of HSU’s CAHSS, CRGS, E&C, Geography, History, and Politics.
