Led Kaapana

The Aloha spirit comes alive in Ferndale this Friday, Oct. 14 as one of Hawaii’s most beloved musicians, Led Kaapana, returns to The Old Steeple.

Widely considered one of the finest performers Hawaii has ever produced, Led is equally accomplished on slack key guitar and 'ukulele as well as a powerful singer in both falsetto and baritone. Hailing from a famous musical family on the Big Island of Hawaii, Led proudly shares the traditions of Kalapana village with audiences around the world. He has received numerous awards, including the NEA Heritage Fellowship, America's highest recognition for a traditional artist, and has earned 4 Grammy nominations in his own right and 2 wins on slack key compilations.

After Led, the music continues with renowned singer-songwriter Laurie Lewis on Nov. 4, cellist and composer Ben Sollee on Nov. 6 and experimental future-folk project Particle Kid (Micah Nelson) with The Starhoppers on Nov. 11. Then on Nov. 16, join the Ferndale Museum for a special showing of the museum’s original documentary film, “Saving the Queen: The Story of Fernbridge.”

All concerts start at 7:30 p.m. with doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concert tickets are available at Mind’s Eye Manufactory in Ferndale, Wildberries Marketplace in Arcata, online at FerndaleMusicCompany.com or by calling (707) 786-7030.
