Kickoff Reception for Arcata Oyster Festival
Arcata Main Street Oyster Festival will host their second-annual oyster fest kick-off reception Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, in Jacoby Storehouse's PLAZA VIEW ROOM - the north side of Plaza Grill.
Oyster farmers from Humboldt Bay will be shucking oysters on the half shell, along with non-oyster appetizers from Plaza Grill and a no-host bar. Marine Applied Research & Exploration (MARE), who supports healthy oceans, will present photos and video of their deep-sea research.
Oyster Fest poster designs from Humboldt State University’s 2016 Advanced Illustration students will be on display along with vintage Oyster Fest and Plaza artwork.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the new Plaza Watershed Program founded by Arcata Main Street. $10 per person tickets are available at Arcata Main Street’s office at 761 8th St., and at the door.
Oysters will be donated, shucked and presented by Coast Seafood, Humboldt Bay Oyster Co., Aqua-Rodeo Farms, North Bay Shellfish and Hog Island Oyster Co.

Arcata Main Street’s Arcata Bay Oyster Festival will be on Saturday, June 18th, celebrating North Coast culture with chefs, merchants, volunteers, and guests reveling in award-winning oysters and other tasty non-oyster delicacies, foods, drinks, music, and art. Highlights include Oyster Calling and Shuck-n-Swallow Contests, live music, Playhouse giant puppets, and kinetic sculptures traversing a new layout that offers an expanded Art Market, FLUPSY Zone for kids and adults, and much more. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Local wines, beer, and hard cider will be poured 11am until 4:30pm, along with a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.Plenty of off-site shuttles and parking throughout the day between both Arcata High and H.S.U., at 14th St.
No dogs, coolers, or bottles allowed.
