Jumella

Returning to Humboldt with their second performance, Dell’Arte International alums Hannah Shaka and Marguerite Boissonnault bring their original physical theatre piece, Jumella, to the Arcata Playhouse. Audiences have the chance to enjoy this experimental blend of physical theatre and storytelling on Friday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Jumella is a story of twin sisters, two halves of one whole, struggling against the forces that seek to pull them apart. Determined to be together, the two descend into Jumella, a mysterious world of spectral creatures that wrench them from moments of violence to tenderness. Can they overcome the depths of this world together? Using aerial silks and otherworldly masks, Jumella tells the story of the spirit’s search for transcendence. Written and performed by Falling Objects Theatre Company, Marguerite Boissonnault and Hannah Shaka. This performance will also include When I Die Leave the Balcony Open / Cuando Muera Dejad el Balcón Abierto, an original physical theatre piece by Playhouse artist Laura Muñoz. Sliding scale tickets available at the door.
